Do different types of injuries have different effects on players? e.g. is an ankle injury going to slow a player more than an arm injury, or would a neck injury be more likely to be aggravated/cause other injuries than a hand injury?

Injuries affect the appropriate attribute values you would expect, but they do not increase the chances of different injuries (other than a player with an injury receives a higher probability for additional injuries)

I'll put this here, rather than a new thread. Do injuries always go week by week as planned? My eyes may be playing tricks on me but I'm quite sure my RB has been probable - 4 weeks, for more than 1 week now. Is this common? Say, an injury set back, relapse? Or am I going crazy? We're in late pre season, so I believe each sim is a week right now

I believe you....I traded for a player once who was out for 8 weeks and as soon as he got to my team he was 100% healed....

Like everything else, it is an estimate - each sim there is a random amount of improvement for all injuries. The _average_ is going to be the estimate shown, but depending on the dice rolls it could go more quickly or much longer.

That's cool. I've no problem with that, it's more realistic that way. Just wanted to make sure that's how it was meant to be though

Are certain players more fragile than others ?

As an update to this, my RB started pre-season fully healthy. Multiple weeks as 4 weeks - probable, then straight to healthy.
Glad to have him back!

No, it is random. I didn't want you to finally get that stud player only to discover that he is always in the ER.
