This week could have been a good game if I did not have to punt. My team gave up 4 and almost 5 punt returns for TD. This happened several times in in preseason also. I do not understand what AI wants to be a good ST. I have tried fast people, good tacklers, and high ratings with zero success. I'm not sure I see the point in playing and putting in that amount of time if a punt team is that departmental to your total score in the end.
Can someone explain these special rules for special teams? Or do I need to just go for it every time on 4th down? ( I don't want you to build them just explain them since I have yet to find anything on ST setups)

The auto setup is wonky .. I try to make my OL the blockers .. DL and LB rushers .. RB, WR, DBS Gunners.
You also have the option to drag the players into the positions you desire.
I'm also curious though as to what others do ... Lol

Don't let the Ai set your depth chart (or do anything for you for that matter).
For the gunners, you need players with high speed and high tackle, usually your best will be your starting DBs.
I rarely ever give up a PR TD.

Thanks for the advice. Someone could have 100 for speed and 80 for tackle but have ST rating of 35. How important are the ST rating for these players?
