add some trick plays in our playbook and special formations

Formations: A formation with two QBs on the field at same time like the New Orleans Saints with Brees and Taysom Hill.

Plays:
Quarterback rushes
Wide recievers rushes
Halfback pass
Wide reciever pass to another WR
WR pass to the QB

Though idk how the defense can counter all that lol

Great post imho. I have no clue why a reverse/end around is not included on any playbooks of coaches. You could also make a strong argument for fake FG's/Punts.

I know sim wise it’s hard to code plays like that. I came from pigskin empire where flea flickers, HB passes, Run Pass Options were all known exploits because as soon as you toss the ball or hand off the defense immediately started chasing the ball unless they were in man to man coverage. So I can see why it isn’t incorporated in a game like this because it could be very difficult to code. I love the ideas, but that might be hard.

The very first playbook had QB sneaks, but they always gained at least 3-4 yards every time, which meant that you could only call QB sneaks and always score a touchdown on every drive. The lesson here is that trick plays also require additional logic on the defensive side to be able to counter them and lower their effectiveness, or like you said, they become exploits, and who wants to watch a game where every play is a flea flicker?

I hope to add all of this at some point, but this would definitely require the normal plays to be removed of their anomalies.

how is the overuse penalty calculated? Is it something that can be more severe on certain plays? That would help make trick plays not an exploit?

Obviously i would love for more of these plays some day, but the focus must be on fixing normal game play for now IMO.

Yes, that is probably the solution - however, there still requires coding updates so that the defense can stop those plays at all, which can easily muddy troubleshooting of regular plays.
