Through the season, I've played the add/drop game like it's fantasy football, trying to get the pieces I want for my team. It's worked out quite alright, but then for last game, I was looking at two players I wanted to test and then this happened.



Thankfully, it's just two backups (LDE 3/4 and CB5), but it left me thin for the last game, where I was trying to limit playtime for my starters.

Why did the AI all of a sudden cut my players? Through the season, I've just gotten the "You're above 53 players, cut some before next update or the AI will do it for you" message.

I'm not 100% sure but I think that happens when you add players on a game week sim rather than a midweek sim ?
I guess it signs the players at the start of the sim and before the game so if signing them takes you over the 53 it'll cut players automatically whereas if its a midweek sim you get to choose who gets cut.

I'm prepared to be corrected though.

It may very well be so, but it still left me 2 players short, as the players coming in wasn't added to the depth chart and I had no way to prepare which players would be cut. :(

Sadly, my competitors picked them up, so I'm weakened heading into the playoffs.

The best way to make sure this doesn't happen is to always -sign- players on the midweek, then -cut- players for the game. If you sign players on the game sim and you are over the cap or roster limit, the AI will take you back down. The AI will -not- do any roster moves on a midweek sim.

Dang. Alright. Didn't think of it as I was going to rest starters and just wanted to shuffle some players before playoffs. :(
