I have a player listed as out (for 2 weeks) and there's an option to place on the IR.

My question is, is the IR a week to week list someone can be removed from or is it a season ending placement and he will be stuck there the rest of the year?

It is season ending.

The only advantage to placing a player on IR is if you know he is going to be OUT for the rest of the season (not doubtful or questionable, but OUT).

If you do this, you can then sign another player to take his place without having to cut someone else to get below 53, since the IR player is not counted as a roster spot.

I assumed it operated that way but wanted confirmation before I made a mistake.
