Or by the 4th round all of the players with decent physical attributes are gone and there's nothing left even as a project if it's a weaker class.

I agree in all three cases, WarEagle, parsh, & lellow2011. Good to know I'm understanding this stuff correctly. :)

That's close to real life if u ask me. I am a big NFL draft guy and the first round is far from a lock. The Cleveland browns love high vol guys, lol

As a Browns fan, I resemble that remark!

I have a few guys on my MFN-7 Roster that were 9+ in their First Training Camp. Sadly I can't even claim them all, as the Previous Owner nailed 2 DTs that were both Booms, and I've recently added a Mid Round QB who will be a Starter come Year 2 thanks to his huge Boom.

Now, on the flip... I also have a lot of 'Highly Functioning Busts', from TE to RB Leon Arana to literally every LB I Drafted/Traded for in my epic 2nd Draft (which despite the Busts has still given me one of the best Defenses in MFN-7... because they were just so **** good to begin with).

Only thing I hate about volatility is if it goes down it will always go down and if it goes up it'll always go up... I'd like to see some variation there.... Maybe one team wasn't using a player in the right scheme....I actually wish it was stat based but I know that's probably tough to do...

I agree 100% that volatility shouldn't be a one way street. As it is now, you know from your first TC whether a player is a bust or not, but it'd be great to have some doubt there. NFL teams will frequently hold onto players they drafted even after they realistically should have been kicked to the curb because of the hope that a light bulb will finally go on. And once they do give up all hope, there's almost always at least one other club that's willing to give them a second chance. In MFN we all know that won't ever happen, which sucks. It should be somewhat rare, but it should happen.

That said, I am also 100% against it being in any way tied to performance and stats, because that means the best teams will only ever get better. And if your team is struggling as a whole, well, there goes all your new shiny draft picks that were supposed to help you turn it around.

.... so after this discussion, is anything likely to change on this?

I think the only consensus is that you should change your team name to the Browns.

I will likely have volatility itself move through a player's life at some point down the road.
