So now I must sort it in MFN!

I can find the stat in individual game logs but not as a league stat comparing teams average - or have I missed it?

Anyone got any obvious tips for third down conversions? Or is that the $64Milion question? !

Concentrate on gaining positive yards on first and second down with high percentage passes and runs. That way you can keep your yards-to-go distance on third down short. The bonus is that you'll have fewer third downs because your team will be picking up more first downs on first and second down.

I also recommend using rules for controlling some third down distances like 3 and <1 because 3 and Short can be up to 3 yards from the first down marker. So your 3 and Short matrix will determine the call in both a <1 yard to go and 3 yard to go where you're going to want to call different plays.

Ah yes, as us old-schoolers call it "Moving the Chains"!!! Like you said, this is in the game stats, but have never seen it in any overall league statistics. Is crucial, especially in real life football. The ability to grind down and lean on a defense, imposing an offense ' s will, late in the 3rd and 4th quarters....mmmmmmmmmm... that is Big Boy Football. LOL.
However, as far as MFN goes, I would concur with setheric and his posting. Positive plays, move the ball forward, slowly sometimes if needed, but avoid negative plays. Unless you have an offense that can overcome those. Play to your team's strengths. Rules , coaching style, play familiarity, being consistent but not predictable. ..it all is part of the mix.
