At what point does the new/next season's salary cap kick in?


I should probably know this by now, guess haven't been paying attention.

It starts at the Free Agency 1 period. I know this because I waited to see how much I'ld save if I switch to Geico....I mean I wanted to save cap wise if I would cut a designated absolute get the **** of my team player.
