Player's weight
by WingedLion14 @ 10/28/2015 2:19 pm
How much does weight matter for offensive and defensive linemen? Currently I have two LGs who are rated about equally. One is a better blocker but only weighs 267 lbs (converted TE who couldn't catch), while the other is 300 lbs but nowhere near as good a blocker. which one would generally be better to go with in this scenario?

Weight is used in addition to strength to determine which player has the advantage in terms of moving the other when two players are engaged in a block. A lighter player can make up for his weight with his strength, but would not do as well against heavier, stronger players.

Speaking of which... since players all trend down towards their position's "ideal" weight, it results in no real differentiation in size over time for players who spend time on rosters. That is, if you want a hefty NT for your system, it's hard to find anyone over 300 LB at DT, for instance, and even if you do, they won't stay that size for long.
