I didnt think you could fumble forward into the end zone for a TD.

You are correct, this is a known bug and is on the list to fix.

I thought you could as long as it wasn't in the last 5 (or 2) minutes of the game.

There is some rule to this. Not sure if time has to do with it or not, but I beleive there is something to do with "intentionally" fumbling forward into end zone.
