Physical/mental attributes vs. skills = equal?
by dei1c3 @ 1/15/2016 2:45 pm
I'm curious which is a bigger factor to the game engine. Or are they more or less equal.

For instance, let's say you've got two players who (based on your weights) are both the same overall and potential. But one of them, has great p+m attributes (e.g. Strength, Max Speed, Acceleration, Discipline, Intelligence) but so-so skill potential at the important skills for his position (say, they are LTs so Run Blocking and Pass Blocking), while the other has great skill potential but so-so attributes.

Which one, if either, is going to be the better player?

This is really up to your interpretation - each attribute impacts different parts of the play as it develops, so if you have a WR who has great pass catching skills but slow speed, he probably won't get to use the pass catching skills as much as he would be less open. But this could be offset by his Courage attribute which will improve his ability to catch passes in traffic which would otherwise reduce his pass catching ability. So as you can see, it's difficult to really come up with a formula to value one over the other, as there are so many decisions made by the game engine that use each attribute individually.

That makes a lot of sense. Thx.

Interesting thread. I have always had in my mind what makes a good WR, and have to say that maybe I need to re-evaluate things
