So I keep trading players and I am not cutting people but the more I trade the more my dead money goes up. Does the bonus mean you have to pay that player the bonus even if you trade them away

Yes, when you trade a player you are still responsible for any remaining bonus due to them. That will count against your salary cap.

You also have to pay the bonus if you cut them, or if they retire.

Basically, the bonus is your responsibility no matter what.
