Tweak the Draft ?

Seems that in the last several drafts [several leagues] that the quality of players after round 5 is really bad compared to those taken earlier. To the point of not worth the time to bother scouting rounds 6 and 7 since they will be automatic cuts. Seems like a minor tweak on the bottom players would benefit the game in the long run and make for a better quality of players on the FA list and make for tougher decisions on cut down day.

I've been clamoring for some diamond in the ruff type players.....It happens in the NFL where players are undrafted or 6th/7th round picks and become decent or even stars...

It does happen - here is my favorite example of this (I noticed it because I actually drafted him in this league) http://mfn2.preview.myfootballnow.com/player/2846- drafted at 6.24 rated at 31/45, he peaked to 72 before he started to decline from age.

I get you find the diamond in the rough once a blue moon. I’m just talking small tweaks to the bottom 1/5 because when you look at it the drop off in the 6 and 7 rounds it is [appears] to be a big drop off then say from 3 round to the 4 or 5th. Just small tweaks to attributes that would make cut down day a little more difficult and improve the FA market.

I'm not sure this is a great example. The RB never became a full time starter and was only marginally effective as a back up. (His SP and AC really held him back.) In MFN-19, we have a multiple CBs drafted late that have done well, but that could be that our league is still young enough to be talent deprived. http://mfn19.myfootballnow.com/player/3980 http://mfn19.myfootballnow.com/player/3587 The best late round QB I've seen is this guy: http://mfn19.myfootballnow.com/player/4025 |

...Kurt Warner, Antonio Gates, James Harrison, Wes Welker, Priest Holmes.
None of these were even drafted. ...Shannon Sharpe (7th), Terrell Davis (6th), etc. |

There are a lot of examples (in real life) of HOF caliber (or close) players going very late in the draft, or not drafted at all. In real life though, you also have undrafted players work hard to improve and make it into the league. In MFN they give up and start eating Oreos while couch surfing. |
