Coaching staff

What roles does each of your staff have?

Who determines what your offense/defense is based off of?

How successful have others been ignoring your coaches, and going with your type of offense/defense based on your team ratings, and plays?

It seems like this question comes up at least once a week, so I really wish JDB would sticky a primer for it.

1) Your HC controls your playbooks
2) Your coaches help your players reach their potential faster, but do NOT determine if they reach it at all (and I'm not sure what really constitutes "faster")
3) Other than 1 and 2, your coaches really don't do much right now

you can go with any type offense you want to play, your head coach determines which plays you have available for your playbook but other than this the coaches don't affect your play style at all

As far as I know, a coach's overall does not affect player progression in one way or another. Coaches just speed the process along, but I'm almost certain a 60 overall HC would do as well as a 90 HC. The reason that most people grab high rated coaches is because eventually coaches will do something more than this.

didn't say anything about effecting player progression i said potential that's meaning how fast your red bar fills up to meet your blue bar, and you are wrong about coaches effect on bringing your players to full potential, here's a quote from another thread

The ratio of influence is:

Head Coach: 50%
Coordinator: 30%
Position Coach: 20%

While you're probably better off trying to hire the best rated coach across the board, if you have a star player who you want one of his attributes to develop more quickly you might consider searching for a position coach who has the highest rating at that attribute even if he has low values in the other attributes. I think it would not serve you as well to do that at the coordinator or head coach position since they are influencing a much larger number of players.

I agree, but it still wouldn't do any good unless it could be stickied (is that a word?).

It would also help if the search function worked a little better.
