The main updates that probably impacted this QB are that the OL play now is more important (the disparity between how well a good OL will protect the QB vs. how well a bad OL will protect the QB should be increased). Also, short passing is no longer as automatic as it used to be, although it is still going to give you the best completion percentage.

Were any changes made (or planned) to increase the effectiveness/importance of the accuracy/field of vision/look off defender skills for a QB?

It seems like the only skill that became more important for a QB is speed.

Also, can we get Passing Release to actually work? My QBs with 90+ Release wait 3-6 seconds to throw. My QBs with 10 Release wait...3-6 seconds to throw.

"passing release" is how long a QB takes from the time he decides to throw it until he actually throws it. I've noted the time to pass, but that's a more complex problem to solve because that is more a factor of the WR routes than the QB timing.

The field of view does have a greater impact in terms of whether a QB will throw to a more wide open receiver in his field of view. It also does impact whether a QB will see an approaching defender when passing to a WR, but that has always been there.

So no changes to accuracy playing a role in a QB's performance?

Passing accuracy does have a greater impact in 0.4 than in previous versions.

But only for the short passing game...

When I read statements like this all I get out of it is "you all should just throw the ball long every down because your QBs only really have a 50% chance of completing passes on a good day anyway and running a short accurate passing game is virtually impossible...also interceptions will be way up because everything else is going to impact the passing game...so good luck."

I'm very tempted to just throw long every down until QBs take fewer than 3 seconds to throw the ball because I don't see a trade off anymore. I thought I had developed a good system in v.3.2 that would be better once pass blocking was fixed. Now pass blocking is better and my QBs are worse. It's truly obnoxious.

If this was the intent, I think it has backfired. The team I picked up in L21 has one of the (if not the) best o-lines (on paper) in the league, yet there hasn't been a single drop back where my QB hasn't come under pressure (no matter how absurdly bad the d-line is they're facing). As a result, my QB, who has perfect ratings in every passing category, is playing like absolute rubbish (47% completion rating), despite having two near perfect rated WRs and a high rated TE and FB to boot. Initially in both L21 and L75 I'd been running a short pass attack, but was throwing more completions to the other team than my own. Switching to a deep pass attack has had zero negative impact on my completion %, interceptions, or sacks allowed, because the QB holds on to it for just as long whether throwing long or short.

The only area any of my o-line is deficient in is speed, because they're all "natural" o-linemen. Compare that to L75 where 3/5ths of my line are transplants, and thus grossly underweight, and they're playing far superior, despite being not only ~40-60lbs too light, but also severely lacking in actual blocking abilities.

In both leagues, the QB is still routinely overlooking open players to throw into double coverage, and my top rated WRs are seriously struggling to generate separation against man to man.
