Why did he not throw the ball? Every guy was open.

i am guessing the pressure was too much for him so thats why he got sacked and didnt throw the ball.

I would imagine if there was time for him to throw the ball and that situation was the same where every guy was open that he would have thrown the ball and completed the pass.

A nine year vet cant make that read. A read he saw a few times that game. They blitzed the outside. Throw outside.

Say they blitz inside then throw inside.

These are basic blitz reads. Throw it quick in the direction of the blitzer. The closest reciever to the blitzer takes the place of him to catch the ball.

We do not have these basic reads by both the WR and QB.

It is there, but it may be too infrequent.

You mean it's there in the code, but it only happens in the game with certain plays. The only time I see this happen is with a few select plays out of the 113 set where the QB throws an immediate dart to the slot WR who is running a slant. (I can dig up examples if you want, but I don't really want to.)

I've only seen this happen when a QB and team have a proficient knowledge of a play, which we've discussed ad nauseam is too difficult to achieve. My team in 19 has run certain plays over 300 times in game situation and barely has 75% play knowledge after multiple years.

The real kicker though is that these quick slant throws are subject to the same penalties as any other under pressure throw and are more likely to be picked off than completed.

So not only does this happen infrequently, it's a hindrance to teams.

i hate that quick slant hot route. In a game i played in 75 my opponent blitzed three against all the 4 and 5 wr sets i ran and i threw this slant every time. It resulted in three picks and countless 2-5 yard gains. It was the lamest thing i've seen.

I did the same thing to you in 19.

ya that was pretty epic, lol. Nothing more exciting then see hot routes take over a gameplan.

How many INTs did your QB throw? I assume you've taken those plays out of your playbook. :)
