You might check your 4th and long gameplan, it's set to be 50/50 run/pass. Although he did almost make it...

Yup, you're right because most of the time I don't set my 4th down matrix because most of the time I'm willing to punt in that situation. However, in this case my matrix should not matter my hurry up is set to 5, which according to the documentation should mean that I'm in pass mode. I mean the Ai ignored my matrix until that play. WHY SHOULD IT RESPECT IT ON 4th DOWN? THAT'S JUST STUPID. Just another time where I have to rely on rules instead of trusting the game planning menu...

You will sometimes run in hurry-up if you are close to a score and there is enough time on the clock. Being at your opponent's 30 with a minute and a half will not override your run/pass distribution because you have plenty of time to let the clock run a little more, and you don't want to score a TD with plenty of time for your opponent to counter.

well at least you can say you learned your lesson where you will have to make a rule for it so it doesnt happen again.

btw i had to make 2 rules for 4th down
1 is for 4th down and 5 yards and less it is for the whole game
other 1 is for 4th down and long but this one ONLY for late in the game.

Only reason i did those 2 is if i learned 1 thing on this site is that really you have to make rules instead of trusting the computer to do it.

**RANT**
btw awhile i am it i think we should be able to make RULES for the draft and for signing players/cutting players and signing coaches/firing coaches because really the computer shouldnt be trusted to make decisions for us either be the draft , signing players or coaches or even cutting or firing coaches
**RANT OVER**

Ultimately the goal is to have the AI abandon your gameplan as little as possible. It did what your game plan told it to, you wouldn't have needed any rules to avoid running in this situation.

Hurry up will go for it on 4th down, reduce the time between snaps, call an onside kick, and will avoid running in -most- situations - but when it is not imperative that you pass, it will still obey your gameplan. (Otherwise there is no reason to have a 4th down gameplan setting)

To setherick's point, the playcalling matrix is entirely unreliable. It is ironic that it works like it's supposed when other (end of game) logic is applied, producing a negative result.

So now we know: The AI thinks it's a good idea to run on fourth down when trailing and less than 2 minutes remaining.

...and you are relatively deep into your opponent's territory where the clock is not really an issue.

It was 4th and 16.

Running is not a smart decision, regardless of the score, field position, time left or even outcome of the play.

I agree, but his game plan called for a 50% chance of run in that situation, so the AI is also not going to override what he asked it to do. The placement on the field only prevented the AI from eliminating all runs, it didn't increase the chance of a run being called beyond what he explicitly had set in his gameplan.
