When I offered the contract I noticed something wonky with the numbers. I really didn't expect to sign him but now that I have him there is a definite issue.

year 1 is 7m
year 2 is 10m .. by my math year 2 should have been at the most 8.4m (7m + 20%) .. Isn't there still a 20% cap year to year?

I actually don't mind keeping him .. I'm willing to accept the risk of retirement. I just know there were other teams bidding.

I'm fine with the contract being voided and having him reenter the FA pool. I just wanted to give a heads up.

The only rule I know of for contracts is that the base salary has to increase by at least 5% each season.

There was a popup when you exceeded the "cap" for the following year. It would say something like "Offer cannot exceed ... blah blah" .. i did another contract a 140% increase the second year .. and the system took it. Withdrew that offer.

whenever there were players (hypothetically like a 2 year CB rated 99/99) .. owners had offers that were dead on each other? I thought it was because it was capping each year ..

I tried another offer and slid the bar all the way to a max contract .. max bonus .. 6 years.

I upped the offer beyond 100% from years 1 and 2 and I got the popup that said total offer for 2025 cannot exceed $$$$.

I think it's because your first example wasn't exceeding the max salary for each year.

The max increases by a percentage each year, but I don't think there is a cap on the percentage if you aren't offering the max.

I could be wrong.
