Player Progression
by WarEagle @ 1/25/2015 7:49 am
I have a couple of questions.

Does on the field performance impact player progression at all?

Is playing time counted by game or play?

From what I've read, the only way games (or playing time) impact progression is the experience and conditioning categories, and that all other skill progression is due to the coaches and luck of the draw. Is this correct?

Also, do Free Agents progress? I would think they would be working out trying to get better so they can make a team.

Thanks

Game time is per play, and increases experience and conditioning. Attributes are influenced only by the coaching heiarchy above the player.

Free agents regress, while they are probably working out they can't realistically stay in game shape nor do they have access to the quality coaching staff of a team.

Can a free agent's regression be "corrected" by good coaching in the future?

Yes - now, he may have some age-based regression that cannot be fixed, but anything he loses from being a free agent can be restored when he joins a team.

Does this mean for instance, Linebackers develop depending on the quality of JUST their Linebacker Coach or does the Defense Coordinator or Head Coach have a bearing on how fast they develop?

I have a question too.

This last sim was screwed up (somehow) with loads of players out of position, will this affect their growth?
EG: QB was throwing to LBs and Linemen, who obviously can't catch so the comp/% goes down ?

It's 20% position coach, 30% coordinator, and 50% head coach.

This will happen especially in the preseason if you don't have enough active players to spell your fatigued players and sat starters. You can (and should) have your entire 60-man roster active during pre-season games.
