I get the notice that I have players that are going to be free agents. But instead of offering them extensions beyond his year, it seems to restructure them starting with the current year. Can I resign my own players over the cap?
I used jsid's contract extension wizard for both my teams (league 82 and 84) and today I have no pending contracts and all the players are still showing in the list that need to be offered contracts. I'm a little lost. Why should extending a player affect his current year salary?

***Edit***, a couple of them did appear to have signed, so that's good. But I'd like to have all to have all of them since it says I'll be plenty under cap the following year.

You do have to have enough cap room in the current season to sign the extensions, if you don't you'll have to let some of them walk even though you have cap room next year.

Thank you for the quick response!
Any insight into what the reasoning for this is?

The main reason is to prevent possible loopholes where a player will re-sign for his team for significantly less than he would get in free agency, and to encourage you having to prioritize your signings and allow good talent to hit free agency.

Or if you can't get them in under the cap, just sign them between the league championship game and the end of season sim, this will allow you to sign them regardless of the cap. Just keep in mind you will want to avoid going over the cap for the new season.

So. Are player contracts tied to position and rating? If I took a 99 CB and converted him to a 45 DT would the contract for the DT be cheaper???

won't effect his demands. He's going to want equal value to his highest rated position skillset would require
