It seems there are many more passionate players with ideas on what needs to improve than administrators actually in charge of improving the game (1 = Jdavidbakr if I am right).
It also seems that a lot of energy is wasted on frustration regarding flaws in the current version that could be used to act upon these weaknesses
So here is a proposal : Could JdavidBakr accept to open part of his source code to the players and invite all to code themselves modules that would improve X or Y aspect of the game. He would then be specifically dedicated to testing and inserting the modules he sees are improving what we currently have. Any module actually selected in the next version would give credits for his coder for example. We would make the game progress much faster this way and I suspect there would be less frustration as well.
Nothing new here, pretty much a small scale application of what is ongoing on the web with R or Python.
I'm not going to make it open source, but I have had a few offers to help - most of the time, as someone said on the MFN Tonight podcast, you do get what you pay for, not that the guys who have helped are not good coders, but since at this point in the game I can't offer any compensation there are often other priorities that prevent them from doing much.
If you're a programmer and are interested I'd love to chat about it, send me a PM.
