Are speed rushers still usefull ?

I Wonder this because i drafted a LB with 100 spd, 87/99 passrush, 77 STR. He was listed as a DE during training camp, now is a lb to keep his weight down (245, i would like 260, so i'll have to make him a DE for some time). Due to injuries, he has only 370 plays so far (in 10 games). Still, he just managed to register 3 hurries and 5 tackles.
Is it only an experience/play knowledge issue (low right now), or do you notice something with speed rushers ? Thanks |

Small ends get eaten by olineman now. I think anything under 260 is gonna have a hard time

Speed rushers do absolutely fine if they are of weight. This guy is a converted OL with basically no pass rush. He's got 9 sacks and 29 hurries through 10 games: https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/player/1405
He'll be absolutely useless once blocking attributes catch up, but he does just fine now. |

Big Frank was held to 1 tackle and three hurries his last game under the line play adjustment. Still a bit high (stats) but I did not take any account for scheme. The game is different . ...a bit of value has been added for ( smaller) speed rushers in this test.

He still blew up much better pass blocking TEs like on this play: https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/gamecenter/view/573#105591 (69 at the bottom of the screen. TE holds him long enough that it's not a pressure, but the 90+ ST and 60+ pass block TE is overwhelmed by the 300# DE.) |
