I have some unfortunate experience with cap problems. If you are hopelessly over the cap, you get 25% cap space back, but not until right before the first preseason game in the second year. Go ahead and cut that guy. It will save you cap in the current year, but you are stuck with the cap hit in the second year. If you don't cut that guy, you will have to pay his salary in the second year PLUS the bonus. That's the thing with fat bonuses -- they will count against the cap sooner or later. You might as well get it over with.
