If one LB averages 10 tackles a game and another one averages just 8, does that automatically mean the more prolific tackler is the better player? What if the 10 tackle LB plays on a bad defense that's on the field 85 plays a game and the other LB is only on the field for 60?

A tackle percentage alone would not help a lot because in teams with a an inadaquate or bad secondary the DBs would make then a high tackle percentage. But for DBs many tackles indicates in most cases only that they are not very good defenders because DBs make the most tackles after allowing the catch.

I think a tackle for loss stat would help a lot. Especially for the front seven...
