Or at least make it where people can match the offer someone is giving one of their coaches if the owner wants to match it or where they can allow the coach to leave because they can find a better coach or they know they can find a better coach .

IRL, coach poaching really happens. You can't just run somebody's life. Most coaches play out the string in the current season, though, and leave at the end. That makes a lot more sense than what is happening now, in which the victim is left scrambling at the last minute.

i realize that ....it is just i would think that if people could match the offer then i would think people would either match it because they can or they would allow coach to leave which i think having the match the offer would make things 10 times better for coaches.

So when can you make offers coaches?

It's the title of the thread, duh! Actually, my intent was to let an offer happen anytime, but the coach can't leave until the end of the season.

does he have to be in the last year of his current contract?

No, but he couldn't move on in the same season he signed, same rule as anything else.
Also, perhaps the existing coach could be warned that there is another offer. Then he could match the offer or not by the end of the season. The cloak-and-dagger scenario that happens at poaching time wouldn't be necessary if you let the guy go.

I just want to be able to match or increase the offer. I'd be so so happy!
