I have seen this play called before and wondered how you can get this to be called or is it purely a CS decision? I've looked in all my teams PBs and can't find it.
Quite often the TOs are getting burnt at odd times so the only way to stop the clock is with a spike. I see lots of teams moving the ball well in a 2 min drill but none ever seem to call a spike? |

It's purely a coach's decision, there are a lot of factors that come into play but it's mainly when you're running out of time and want to preserve a timeout for the field goal or are out of timeouts, and only is called on first or second down. If you are moving the ball well enough that your coach thinks you can score in time he won't use it.

No spikes called, in a RL game this would have happened. http://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/3271#581856
