I just noticed this guy and wonder how rare it is for a non-kicker to play into his 17th pro season/age 38 season.

I think I've seen two - managing a lot of teams in a year and a half. Once they reach season 15, they have about a 1 in 6 chance of making it to 17. Most players have lost their mobility by 15, so nobody watches them fade away in FA.
