I just came back to the game and started a league for a group of friends. We are about to have an allocation draft and had some questions, if you guys could answer them, that'd be super helpful.
How are contracts distributed in the draft? Is an 11 EXP guy getting a 5 year contract if hes drafted in the first round?
Are there any tips for building a team from an allocation draft? We have looked at a lot of the beginner guides and primers, but any extra tips would be appreciated. Thank you!

Contracts are based solely on draft position.
I wouldn't waste a pick on an old player.
DO NOT let the AI make a pick for you.
Set your player weights so you are not using the default AI weights. They are worthless.
How about kickers? From what I see there are only so many good kickers.

QBs often go early
Keep your draft queue stocked with players
First day draftees have 3 year contracts, everyone else 2
Pay attention to a player's physical weight, often they have DE that are LB weight among other mismatches. Sometimes it's better to switch their position.
I normally take a kicker between rounds 20-25, but I've seen great ones go a little higher.

Usually after day 2, I make a list of kickers I like, punters too especially if I need one to kick hold. Basically the list is any kicker I would be comfortable with, and once that list starts getting whittled down, I start planning on when to pick one for me.

I never take a kicker in the draft. I sign 1-2 high vol kickers as UDFAs, and hope.
Basically, you get 46 picks to form your core roster. Take players you don't want to fight in FA for.

That's an interesting take, have you ever gotten unlucky and just got stuck with a really bad kicker?
Thanks btw for all your guides

I have had both bust. But there is usually a UDFA vet that is manageable for a year.
My philosophy is that a kicker is not going to make or break your team in year 1.
