DRAFT complaint/question
by Pedro11 @ 6/09/2015 2:23 pm
Unable to check in early this morning on a draft I'm in. Last night I set my board and settings to get me thru the first 4 picks. These would start in round 37.

I wanted to get my punter and my pick would be a late one in this round. So I had a group of kickers at the top of my board. I already have a kicker so I set kicker weight at 0 and left the goal at 1. Set all other positions I wanted at 50 including punter. So as to draft the top player on my board in the order I ranked them. The punter goal was set at 1.

So this morning I log in to see how it's going. To my shock, I had drafted 4 straight punters. OH my. My next pick was coming up shortly. Note for me this late in the draft the war room is very laggy, my connection is not the best. So I go to the edit button as moving all the kickers is not going to happen. I adjust punters to 0 and Weight to 0 also. I watch as a couple of picks come in hoping the DT i want will be there. He is but I don't take him. I take another punter. Why?

I would think that having my goal set for one punter, would prevent me from drafting more than one. I would also think that setting the weight slider to 0 would prevent me drafting a player at that possition.

So my questions.
What does setting a goal for a position do?
What does the weight slider effct and how?
Does the manual draft board superseed these settings?
Do they only effect auto draft?

Anyone need a punter?

This is a problem. I would think that once you drafted a player it would subtract from your list but it doesnt.

I have noticed that if you have the same number posted on the slider for different positions it seems to start with the QB and work its way down so say you have a tackle at 50 and a cb at 50 it will list tackles before CB's.

Oh and I can use a punter..lol

Thanks Morbid

And I'm sure we can make a deal on a punter. Looks like I'll be giving them away. Unless they can play CB or run like Walter Payton.

Thank god I was on top of thing up to this point....gezzz

Nothing wrong with Punters, IMHO you need at least 53 on a team.

Did you put punters in your manual draft list? Here's how the algorithm works:

When your pick goes on the clock, if you have a player in your manual list, that player will be selected. Other players in your manual list will NEVER be automatically removed unless they are drafted by you or another team. So if you stack your manual list with punters and are not around for 4 picks, those 4 picks will pull punters from your list until they are all gone.

If you are not going to be able to update your manual list then you should adjust your auto-list to give you what you want. The auto-list WILL take into account the number of players who have been drafted at the given position. The way the auto-list works is that each player receives a grade; the grade is calculated somewhat as follows:

1) The base rating value of the player (halfway between current and future according to your weights)
2) Multiply that value by the weight in your draft preferences.
3) The number of players you wish to draft at that position is calculated. This is just the number you have for the goal minus the number of players you have already drafted at that position.
4) If the value from #3 is less than zero, the weight is halved that many times (so if the number is -2, it will be multiplied by 0.25). If it is greater than zero, the weight is increased (not linearly and not as extremely as the other direction).

The only way you should have drafted multiple punters would be if your manual list had them or your weights were such that even with the drafted punters they still came out more heavily weighted.

Hope this helps -

Good info. I noticed them working that way and was able to achieve my desired team with ease, but wish I had access to number 1 so I could effectively choose the experience level per each position group.

That will hopefully be coming soon.

I would found useful too to be able, espetially during the draft, to turn off the influence of conditionning and pos exp in the grades.
