Goodbye
by outdooreli @ 4/03/2021 4:59 pm
Not that it means much to anyone, but after spending 45 minutes a day on this site for the entire pandemic, it was sincerely disappointing to never see the game get better over that time.

4.6 was promised. 4.6 has been in beta for a long time.
4.5 is all figured out. A few teams/owners dominate with speed.
The shine came off the diamond. You lost me, jdb.

To anyone reading this, it was a wonderful distraction when this game was good and I'm glad we shared those good times.

The sunk cost fallacy was keeping me stringing along, but I'm over it. Goodbye.

As far as I can tell, there hasn't been a single "feature" added since it's inception, and that goes back 5 plus years I think.

There was letter written by this dev a long time ago saying he was losing/not making money and was about to shut down the site or something to that effect. I quit playing around that time and came back with my gaming email address, the one I'm on now. Instead of making improvements to the game, ya know to make the game better, all he did was add 2390842398 more popup ad's to increase his revenue.

To your point, I don't think I've ever witnesses a significant change. one that might bring in new people etc.

There are a lot of people that will argue otherwise, but the beta version of the game that is running in multiple leagues is significantly worse.

1) QBs cannot average more than 200 yards per game.
2) QBR is < 90 for most QBs.
3) WRs move slower than DL now because of tweaks that were made to speed.
4) There are 0 effective long passes because QBs get instantly sacked since #3.
5) All of the current problems with the passing games - no downfield passes, all dump offs, etc. - are still there.

Which is to say I don't understand what folks are excited to see changes to the game. For all the problems with 4.5, it's stable and playable.

For comparison's sake, here are full season stats from a full, competitive league like Victory, except USFL/WFL does not use Beta.

The nfl record for a qb getting sacked is somewhere in the 80’s I believe...I see one there over 100. Not saying that couldn’t happen if a team completely disregards o line or play calling to keep exposing a guy to punishment. The second group looks closer the current pass happy league of the modern era, but even then we know it’s just because the good teams run the same half a dozen glitchy pass plays that tear every defense apart. The real answer has to be somewhere in between. Almost every current nfl defense can rush the passer enough to accumulate between 30 to 45 sacks in a season (2 or 3 a game) with a few outliers that get more or less.

For the QB with more than 100 sacks you might say it's his starting o-line. LT, RT, RG and C have an average OVR below 70. They allowed nearly 80% of the sacks. The starting LG has an OVR of 82 -> only 1 sack allowed.

Nevertheless pass play is not balanced. Mainly the long passing sucks, tending to zero.

The bolded line is true and not true. There are a lot of defenses that keep plays like FL Hitch, Flare, and Slot Out in check. What I've seen more and more is bad teams that rely too heavily on M2M blitz plays and then complain when they get blown out.

Most of the good defensive game planners I see hold teams to < 15-18 PPG and < 250-300 YPG despite the glitchy offensive plays. The great defensive game planners are holding teams to 10-15 points, and really making their opponents work on offense.
