OT Rules For Post Season Not Followed

In 2022 the NFL changed the OT rules that allow both teams to possess the ball in OT in the post season.
That statement, plus the one below were taken directly from https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-overtime-rules/. "The current rules give both teams the opportunity to possess the ball at least once in overtime. Although, DURING THE REGULAR SEASON, if the team that gets the ball first scores a touchdown on the opening possession, they win." The bold and CAPS were added by me for emphasis. Now keep in mind my team was not involved in this game but it did happen in a league I run, the USFL. In a Conference Championship Game. https://usflwfl.myfootballnow.com/log/10857 It's bad enough the MFN tiebreakers diverge from the NFL at some point, now we aren't even following the OT rules. |

How about 17 games while we are at it!?!
It's the new normal in the NFL so shouldn't MFN follow? |

In 2022 the NFL changed the OT rules that allow both teams to possess the ball in OT in the post season. the example you provided is from a league that is in the year 2007....so it all checks out. carry on |

Carry on and mind your own business. |

i get tired of reading complaints about MFN. dont believe those who complain have any idea of how many hours it takes to put something like this together and then complain about something minor
at least you buy credits so thats cool. i wonder how many complaints come from those who dont buy credits what about the ncaa leagues on here? should those rules all be switched to college rules? |

Getting too far off topic. As far as OT, JDB changed OT to 10 minute periods when the NFL did, changed the OT to allow a 6th qtr if the game is still tied in the post season, and he changed the playoff teams from 12 to 14. I don't think it's unreasonable to request both teams get an OT possession in the post season given the other changes.
As far as getting tired of reading complaints...I get it but you do realize that by trolling you bring more eyes to my post? If you want the complaints to die, just ignore them, let the post drop down the list to be forgotten. Every time you comment, this thread gets pushed to the top, more people see it and eventually someone may chime in and agree with me and the ball starts rolling. |
