If you have a game credit, and the league allows it, you can change a name after you draft that player and before they play a preseason game. After that, it’s locked in.

Nope, have to name the rookies before training camp. Once TC runs it locks. You can also change the names of rookie free agents if you sign one before camp.
It might state somewhere that you have until the first preseason game, but I got burned by that once. It is definitely the training camp sim when names lock.
