USFL / WFL, week #4 of the 2021 season, Gold vs. Showboats.
Two instances of fake fumble magic. This play should be outlawed, sort of like the fake QB slide that is banned in NCAA football. :)
1st Quarter: 1-10-MEM 15 (1:51) 30-John Cummings ran to MEM 9 for -5 yards. 30-John Cummings FUMBLES ( 2-Sweet Lou Kendricks ) Tackle by 9-Syotto Puolustaja .
4th Quarter: 3-1-MEM 29 (15:00) 44-John Riggins III ran to MEM 31 for -2 yards. 44-John Riggins III FUMBLES ( 40-Joseph Caldwell ) Tackle by 51-Andre Ferrill .
I still am dumbfounded that the NFL "powers that be" allowed that ridiculous rule to happen. But, when you're as powerful an owner as Kraft is, crazy thing happen. Remember "deflategate"? Spying on teams while they practiced for games? Players admitting that they held, and did other things, to upset the Rams "greatest show on turf" from winning the game? Where were the refs then??? Kraft.
I mean, it is possible that the ball carrier can get a generous bounce on a fumble.
It was possible to get a good bounce for sure, but on the first fake fumble magic the ball carrier was 7 yards downfield after the ball was stripped before the ball wound up back in his hands. The second fake fumble magic is slightly more plausible as the ball carrier was only 4 yards downfield before the ball reappeared in his hands.

The Raiders caught up in 2 controversial calls that changed the outcome of the game! The "Holy Roller" in '78 against the Chargers and the "Tuck Rule" against the Patriots in 2001. The first one made it possible for the Raiders to advance in the playoffs. The other one, denied the Raiders from advancing in the playoffs. Well, they always say "Karma's a "**tch". LOL. "Just win, baby!!
