3. Paydirt Football League, 7 open teams, another longtime fav, 1970-2015

4. Continental Football League, 9 open teams .... added 8 new owners in July and 10 so far in August, only league with that much recent growth by far.

Honorable mentions Major Football League and Football Moguls both with 11 open teams.

The Cont added 3 new owners so far today, there are now only 6 teams left, moving ahead of Paydirt into #3! One behind the NFL League and may pass it by tomorrow. No other existing league is close on new ownership. It has a good chance to go all the way to #1 and pass the RO league.

IN this case, everyone loses.
It's not a competition to see which league can survive.

The effort to fill leagues is appreciated, but the idea of leagues competing for players is not.

Why?
it's a very negative way to promote joining a league.
How so?
It completes the idea that MFN does not have enough players to motivate a newcomer to join in the first place.

I know where you are coming from, I'm very grateful for your efforts and all you contribute to the community, but creating a perception of inequity only leads to inequity.

Basically, killing one league for another.
Perception is everything. Stating this league is doing better than some other league in an effort to recruit players to both leagues at this moment only makes the other league weak at and in that moment.

Know the weight you wield, GDB. It carries - both in force AND momentum.
Every time one states "this" league is doing better, it makes "that" league look worse.


Force : A push or pull that acts on an object, causing it to change its speed or direction.
Momentum: The quantity of motion an object has.

It's counterproductive to promote one over the other if the goal is to have both succeed.

That premise is flawed given people can be in more than one league.

If everyone was solely on the free tier, then the game would be dead. Those with subscriptions are keeping the game alive.

I can understand your view on promoting one league over another WH, I'm now more aware that there's two sides to the issue, and I think it comes down to more of personal opinion than factual. And thats my opinion, like anal openings, everyone has one, as the proverbial expression goes., and hopefully so, I dont know if there's anyone who does not have one, will have to google search that. One of the ways that it is not "counter productive" is getting those who have subscriptions to pick up another team. And they do so for a reason(s), like anything. If I can increase the level of interest and convince a person to pick up a team, I'm going to do so as opposed to doing nothing and watching a league stagnate or become extinct, like the Continental League almost did. What happened in that particular league was extremely gratifying and worth publically noting, as much as an example that it could be done with the current game condition and situation, not as a "rah rah". But, there's nothing wrong with cheering a positive result, is there. Whether or not it was to the detriment of another league? maybe so, but not if it did not result in a league losing a player to another league. Football is competition, another thing to consider overall. Look at what happened in RL with the NCAA and teams moving to the SEC and Big 10.

I do what I can to promote the game and my leagues, could do more and could do less. At this time and place, its not easy to get existing teams picked up by existing players, especially those with Free accounts. I dont know the total # of players with subscriptions, I would guess around 30 to 40, and hopefully that will increase in near future.
It became interesting to me to see what leagues had more owned teams, and I thought it was worth noting and keeping an eye on. So far, there's only one complaint against doing so. Will continue to keep a watch on "league health" unless there's a significant # of MFN players who would prefer not to see posts about what leagues have the most human owned and managed teams.

Add: did the search, not everyone has one. Surgical removal: Adults who undergo specific cancer treatments or severe intestinal injuries may have their **** surgically closed. They then use a medical opening on the abdomen called a stoma or colostomy bag to pass waste..... SMH and knocking on wood. its another blessing to count if you still have yours, which fortunately, is a vast majority. :)

I'm happy to join leagues to keep them active, tho I'll prob not be too active in those.

What's needed imo is a mechanism to merge leagues; two with 16, 8 human owners could become a league with at most 24 owners - much better imo.

Problems is, lots of difficulties involved; how to merge player pools, who admins, how to allocate teams etc.

The most obvious solution is to get more MFN players and subscriptions.

One idea that I had, and would like to submit to JDB again, is to use "affiliate marketing". Which would compensate existing MFNers for their time and effort in reruiting new players. I havnt re-visited the idea as I thought it would be better to wait until the game version had improved and had gotten significant positive feedback from the existing dedicated group of users and subscribers.

The other is marketing in general, and again, my opinion and probably most others, is that the game is not ready for a strong marketing push. We had a couple of new players join this past week, but I have not gotten feedback as to how they found the game or why they joined. Would suggest that be a mandatory Q&A for signing up for the game. Its a good idea to know what is bringing in new players.

9/17 update...... a new top league, the ULRO league has finally given up the top spot to the NFL League!
The Continental and Elite Leagues had the most new owners since the last week in August with 7 each!

1. NFL League (+5) ... only 1 open team left! Washiington, leading its division at 4-1, somebody grab it and we will have the first league to be fully owned (no computer owner/managers) since ? I would guess at least 6 months?

2. 4 open teams........ Ultimate Legends RO (+2) ... Roster Only, no gameplanning, play selection, or trading.

3. 5 open teams....... Continental League (+7, tied for most gained)...

4. 9 open teams ....... MFN Test (+5) gained 4 new owners in last week with the extra free team offer.

5. 11 open teams.....Paydirt League (-4) , down from 7 open teams in August, the only one in top five to have fewer.

6. 12 open teams.......The Elite League (7 new owners in Sept!), Gridiron (+4), and Major League (+3) ....

7. 13 open teams.......Football Moguls (+2) and USFL (+1)
