On what would the ratings be based? Won-lost record? Collective team player ratings? Team stat performance? Wouldn't the ratings change on a play-by-play basis, depending on personnel used, team and player familiarity with play called, and individual player rating, among other things?

the Ratings will be from all players collectively so to say. And the overall ratings will stay with the team, even if the owner leaves. Essentially like a Madden Connected Franchise lol. but i think it will be a cool addition so you know what you getting your self into. like if a team rating is 75 you don't want to go there or you want to rebuild that team.

Yes, it is something I'd like to add (a score for each position group for each team as I'm interpreting your original post). It would help quite a bit with finding a trading partner especially.
