Looks more like one of those plays where the defender just "escorts" the ball carrier down the field.

I didn't check, but either that defender has -100 intelligence, or it should be a bug.

I wonder if the defensive player is never actually close enough to quite make the tackle but the game graphically misrepresents what is actually happening in the sim.

That's how I justified lineman making interceptions. I just imagined a batted ball at the line got picked off by a DT and it made more sense. The graphics can't represent every different occurrence very accurately

This is what is happening. I will probably add a 'diving tackle' attempt in these cases to help with the rendering (and sometimes get a tackle out of it)
