What if there was a window of time (along with a notice) that you could download the league records and stats (csv) - before the league gets deleted??

Just an idea.

well i would think we would have to download it to a CD than download it as a CSV because it probably would still cause a problem with STORAGE DATA

that JDB said here =

I appreciate this suggestion, but allow me to explain why I have chosen to do this.

There are two major costs to running this site. The #1 cost is the storage required for all of the data for each league. This cost increases of course the longer a league exists. The #2 cost is the cost required to run the servers to sim the games. But that pales compared to #1. The reason leagues shut down and data gets removed when they get empty is because, without people actively playing in a league, I can't cover the cost to store the data of the league; it's as simple as that. The only viable solution would be to change the model to one where everyone pays maybe a monthly subscription instead of having ads on the site or buying credits, but I believe that would significantly reduce membership and hurt the game as a whole, so instead I have chosen to make it free to play if you choose to do so. The compromise on that point is that, if a league is not being played in, the data for it goes away. The exception of course is that if you have a custom league, that league will not shut down if it is below the minimum threshold, because someone did pay for that benefit.

He is talking about ALL of the (DEAD) Leagues and Everything that GOES with each League and having to leave them UP and ACCESSIBLE even though they are defunct.

All I am saying is to make the statistical records available via a CSV download. It wouldn't be THATbig of a file. And only make them available for a window-of-time. After the window passes, JDB deletes the league and ALL of the data that goes with that league.

well i would think if he thought doing the CSV download wouldnt take that much space he would have done it before the 1st league got deleted.

YES i am ASSUMING

anyway i would think having the ability to download it to a CD would be better because then that DATA wouldnt be on the site regardless how small it is .

just my 2 cents and maybe i am wrong and you are right.

Agreed, coupled with the fact that "CD" is not a very secure way of securing data. Multiplexing data over a course of different mediums is far more secure.

Perhaps, and something to think on, is the ownership of the data and extended rights to such....a WHOLE different ball game.

Id much rather Admin spend time polishing the actual game play than helping a handful of owners relive their "glory days". Just my opinion.

Why so ? The question posed is to preserve records of leagues that died. Not to be confused with leagues threading water.
