As of 2018, there is no mention of re-kicks. I think now it's one strike and you're out.

Perhaps that's not authoritative, but the name of this game is "My Football Now" and not "My Football Then." If you want to go back to a time when you knew it all, feel free. But I'm not going with you.

I think you'll find Team R always has a right of option on this, but not on an onsides kick,...unless they were 99.99999% clueless :P

That's been the key. "I think" Does it say anywhere in there about a second shot? Maybe I missed it?

"ARTICLE 7. SHORT FREE KICK
If the ball has not been touched by either team after the kick and rolls dead in the field of play before reaching the receiving team’s restraining line, the ball belongs to the receiving team at the dead-ball spot"

This says in the feild of play....

never mind found it!

TICLE 3. FREE KICK OUT OF BOUNDS
The kicking team may not kick the ball out of bounds or be the last to touch the ball before it goes out of bounds between the goal lines. If the receiving team is the last to touch the ball before it goes out of bounds, the receiving team puts the ball in play at the inbounds spot.

Penalty: For a kickoff out of bounds: The receiving team may elect to take possession of the ball 25 yards from the spot of the kick or at the out-of-bounds spot.

Penalty: For a safety kick out of bounds: The receiving team may elect to take possession of the ball 30 yards from the spot of the kick or at the out-of-bounds spot

Per the NFL Rulebook:

Penalty: For a kickoff out of bounds: The receiving team may elect to take possession of the ball 25 yards from the spot of the kick or at the out-of-bounds spot.

I said the very same thing way, way back at the start of the other thread. Was that too easy for you?
