How are people outbidding me without their salary cap being a mess in a season or two?

Good free agents are usually a hot commodity. You have to offer way more than you did for the quality of players you were trying to get. It's a shame too, because it seems like you had the cap space to do it.

Thanks, yeah I thought so too. Was trying stay on top of the Cap so I can get those players I needed. Maybe I'm just too cheap in my bidding and have to do what you suggest next time around.

I offered three max contracts in a league with a big free agency year this season. Got two of them. Not worried about my cap space yet either. Don't be too stingy.

If a max contract is offered by two teams what would be the other deciding factors? I see depth at the position or a teams chance of winning the big game. But I wonder the games current logic.

I'm not sure, but I've also seen CPU teams able to go higher than my max with a 75% bonus, which was weird.

At a loss...Wouldn't know why that happens at all.

The AI teams should be playing by the same rules but it is a separate program that runs - I'll look into it and make sure the most recent updates to the web interface have indeed been ported into the AI logic.

Can you point me to a player that this has happened with? I am looking over the code and I don't see where the AI could do it differently but if I look at a specific situation I might be able to figure out why. Also, if you're referring to your max bid based on the slider that will only go to the end of your cap room but you can manually offer more if you have time to resolve the cap issues, if you're instead getting a message that you are offering more than the max then that would be another issue that needs to be looked at if the AI is still outbidding that.

I don't know whether this situation was applicable at the time or not, but here is an example of a player either A) signing for less guaranteed money than other offers, or B) a CPU team offering higher than the limit.

CB Daniel Coats, Cust-10, 2017 FA 2 (currently page 58), signed with Manhattan for $83,804,162/6 years. The max (with 75% guaranteed) should have been $82,032,330/6 years, which was offered by three other teams.

This is the situation I was referring too.
