New Leagues and Coaches
by Morbid @ 7/16/2015 3:49 pm
I am putting this here even tho it starts as a question but really could turn into a suggestion

Unless I am missing something on training and coaching skills. Isnt the current way of the way Coaches are put on these new league teams really at an advantage for the Offense?

Wouldnt it be better to have a more random placement of these coaches per team besides the HC, OC and DC? Also have it so its balanced so not one team for some reason gets all the good coaches.

The coaches appear to be selected in a snake draft, similar to the actual allocation draft, so teams tend to end up with either every other coach being great/terrible, or all their coaches being mostly middling. I do agree with the suggestion that they should draft based off of a weighted system; ie after HC teams will draft either an OC or a DC based off whoever is rated highest, rather than doing OC first and then DC after etc. This will also result in coaches ending up in their best suited roles, rather than a 90 rated secondary coach getting drafted to be a 75 rated TE coach.

Yeah, thats kinda what i was getting at. All the defensive coaches are picked for offensive positions as it trickles down from QB to Kickers so the defensive coaches tend to be weaker. It takes many many seasons to get any good defensive coaches.

This may sound crazy. But why not let us draft our own coaches in new leagues before the regular draft.Just run it like a regular new league draft.Or even let us bid on our own staff.

I dont like the bidding part because that would leave the cpu teams very weak and further push new owners away.

It would be nice if we got all our coaches and it let us apply them to their coaching positions instead.

If we bid on our coaching staff it would be just like hiring our own staff from the ground up..We could chose how we want too play.I know from the past that some coaches i wish were not even on a team i take.

l would rather see a draft for coaches. It could be done in one day. Bidding would take at least a few days.

How I would work it is like the NFL.
You have us the owners who pick our own HC, how they are allocated is by a draw or raffle if you like, so it will be down to luck. Just like the draft you can put in your 1st, 2nd 3rd etc... choices.
Then, and this is where it gets interesting, there will be OCs and DCs that favor some HCs over others, character, schemes, old friendships and opportunities. This could then filter down the rest of the CS.
I'm not sure if this could be done, but its how I would like to see it done if this happens.

why not just draft a staff as a whole? Meaning the coach you pick already has a staff together the first season. Beginning in season 2 you can start hiring/firing as normal.
