Bringing back this post below from September 2025 for discussion...

Issue: Extending a contract in the old UI versus the new UI.

NOTE: We're not talking about using the Renegotiation Wizard here. We are using the method widely utilized that involves zeroing out the two sliders, "First Year Base + Bonus" and "Bonus %", setting the number of years for the contract, and then pressing the "Submit Offer" button, following which you get a message about the minimum amount of the bonus that the player will accept.

Example:
League = Football Moguls
Team = Colorado Coyotes
Player = Robert Stewart, currently signed for two years and we are extending his contract to six years for the purpose of this example. Of note is that this player is not due any bonus money on the current contract, i.e., he has a salary only and no current bonus.

Old UI:
Using the method described above, the following message is generated.
"This player will not renegotiate for a bonus less than $6,988,520."

New UI:
Using the method described above, the following message is generated.
"This player will not renegotiate for a bonus less than $3,494,260."

Findings: Using the exact same contract extension method on the same player across both UI's, the old UI requires a bonus amount that is exactly double the value of the bonus amount required in the new UI.

Question: Has the programming logic for determining the bonus amount for contract extensions changed in the new UI?

Would like to see some other team owners run some contract scenarios and add comments about what you are seeing.

I'm bringing back this post because of what I'm seeing in the New UI on the issue of extending contracts. Bottom line... I am finding that extending contracts in the New UI seems super inexpensive, even for high quality players. Was the logic on this issue ever verified, old UI to New UI or, as I found in my previous post, is extending contracts in the New UI actually 50% cheaper? Since the old UI is no longer operating, there is no way to for team owners to check on this issue. (Problems ahead for all leagues if teams are too flush with cash and have limited opportunities to spend it.)

JDB, please weigh in.

The alternate view would be that the old ui solution was wrong?

The maths in the new UI seems to work for me based upon the data and constraints.

Thanks for bringing this back up again. I'm going to investigate this and make sure it's behaving correctly.

I've passed over to the boss man the method I use to generate the minimum contract based on what the player asks for, in case that clarifies anything.

Things seem less expensive in MFN-1 but then again, the salaries there were reset not long ago anyway, so that probably skews my perception.

Maths is maths is maths, the approach and formula I used, based on jsid's spreadsheet for the most part, works so the only possible issue is if the players are asking for less as a bonus. The formulas aren't going to change so it's solely based upon the request made by the player re bonus.

Every time I edit the gameplan rules, the personnel group defaults to 5WR.

This problem is still happening to me every time I edit an existing rule. It's a killer.

I'm not sure I understand - you're talking about Gameplan Rules when you have a rule and you click on 'edit' - how does the personnel group default to 5WR?

I did push a fix for this area this morning so please see if it's still behaving badly, and if it is help me understand what it's doing.

Looks like it's saving properly now, thanks for the fix.

Trying to make an offer to an FA, getting all kinds of error messages. *** is this?.

How to make a max offer, for example? Just getting weird error messages regarding 2nd or 3rd year salaries, which make no sense to me.

*push*

Anybody? What happened to something as easy, and with the simplest logic, of "push both sliders to the right"?

I want to be able to sort my roster two deep, meaning I want to sort both by Overall Rating and then by Contract Length. The old UI used to let me do this, but in the New UI I can't.

I should be able to get Davis on the top. It's not important now, because all of these people will walk, but after the rollover, I will want to tease out the few players I want to keep.

Players cards still show "on Trade Block" message even after the trading deadline has passed away. Also showing for players I have traded away, who were on the trade block until the trade.

I put five players on the "trading block" today in the NFL League, New York Jets. Players = Long, Allen, Nichols, Jackson, Costello.

All five players show the "trading block" designation on their player cards but none of the players appear on the league listing for "trading block."
