I don't think Gus is referring to that game. I've gone up against a GM in multiple leagues now that goes for it on every 4 and <10, so I'm almost certain that is who he is referring to. All of the GM's games are lopsided. Either all of the gambles work and he wins in a blow out. Or all the gambles fail and he loses in a blow out. If I could remember the league, I would track down a few of the games in question.

My team almost never punts the ball, and I do this because I believe there is empirical support to demonstrate why we don't. Of course, no NFL coach would ever get away with it because "conventional wisdom", which might be called the refuge of cowards, does not permit it. Here, I can throw caution to the wind because it's MY team, and I can call plays in any way that suits me. I may yet learn that it is a foolish maneuver, but I enjoy challenging the status quo whenever there may be great gains to be made.

Well...each to their own but I don't think that's in the spirit of the game. I woke like to see teams that use this strategy penalised in some way, throwing INTS or hold penalties... anything gets to make it more of a risk.

Explain to me how this strategy is any less in the spirit of the game than those who employ a blitz on EVERY SINGLE PLAY because they have found a hole in the algorithm that allows them a competitive advantage if they do? Would you like to see those GMs penalized in a similar manner to what you describe here? Because, I know I would.

I think often enough going for it so often on 4th down or calling a blitz every play is its own punishment.

For example, I'm the Browns in MFN-63 and I just played Punisher's Seahawks. He use Nickel Normal CB3 LB Blitz for every snap he played vs my offense. I saw this when I scouted him and made a gameplan to counter it. I scored 55 points.
I didn't realize he liked going for it on 4th down during my scouting, but it ended up hurting him during the game, such as when he went for it on 4th and 3 from his own 14: https://mfn63.myfootballnow.com/gamecenter/view/1799#318336

I think Punisher is just using MFN-63 to experiment in, but I could be wrong. And I'm still a newbie, so I haven't seen everything yet. As such I am inclined to believe propper gameplanning should beat teams that blitz too often and that going for it on 4th down too often is its own punishment.
