May 2026 Update
by jdavidbakr (Site Admin) @ 5/05/2026 2:18 pm
It’s May, which means it’s time for another MyFootballNow recap of what changed in April. Here’s what was updated:

  • Fixed several issues with the War Room, including UI quirks, performance problems, and overall usability improvements. This is still an area we’re actively refining, but it should feel much more stable than before.
  • Computer-controlled teams will no longer select punters and kickers in the early rounds.
  • Fixed multiple bugs related to player contract offers.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented dragging a player to the bottom spot of the depth chart.
  • Updated the depth chart interface so clicking a player’s name opens their player card.
  • Injured reserve players are no longer counted in the depth chart.
  • Draft ticker now displays picks in the correct order.
  • Fixed a display issue with coach ratings.
  • Fixed a bug where players were removed from the depth chart when offered in a trade instead of when the trade was accepted.
  • Corrected the trade deadline timing—it was incorrectly enforced at the end of Week 7 instead of Week 8.
  • Fixed an issue where player attributes could be missing on the player card.
  • When offering a contract to a coach from the search page, the default position now matches your search filter.

In addition to these updates, I started making changes to the game engine in April. If you want to try the latest tweaks, grab a team in MFN-1. Recent work has focused on making the long passing game effective again, as well as increasing the size of the draft pool to improve the quality of players available in the later rounds. It’s still early, but initial results are promising.

Thanks again for playing MyFootballNow!

Yay, dark mode.
Although dark mode will be my default, I suggest not having dark mode as the default.

Can we get confirmation that the "Remaining Cap Room" box on contract offers is correct, and includes all proposed contracts plus the one that you are currently proposing, plus all draft contracts accurately? The page looks different now than it did recently when I found out the hard way that it was not accurate. I had to cut guys in Paydirt that I thought I would be able to keep because this box was giving me bad information, and now I'm going into another free agency period.

It should default to whatever you have your browser/os set to, although mine is dark mode so if it's not properly staying on light mode if your browser is not set to dark mode let me know.

This has been addressed - please let me know if you identify any remaining issues.

When in Dark Mode the play-by-play is inheriting the white text color. The white on off-white is difficult to read.

There are a few places where the contrast is off in dark mode, though I can't remember the other places off the top of my head.

I'm completely color blind, which is why I use dark mode. The color schemes for any active vs inactive player, rules, etc is just invisible to me.
Perhaps inactive stuffs could be white or basic grey?
I actually had to switch to light mode to be able to discern the difference.

I know that there will be some tweaking necessary to get the team colors to be properly visible in the game logs for dark mode - if you wouldn't mind posting the links to some of the worst colors in game logs so I can see what color ranges are the worst offenders I'll work on making tweaks to the logic when creating those colors.

I'd suggest monochromatic negatives for inactive elements.
The best way to relate what I see is to go watch an old Black and white movie - I'll suggest Casablanca or 12 Angry Men.
The big issue is that the colors chosen for inactive / active what evers on a black background are not visible for anyone who is red/green/blue or complete colorblind - which is over half the entire global population ;)
I can see the difference in grey enough to see that a DE is lighter than a DT with effort and not always, but knowing which one is active or inactive is impossible in dark mode.
Ima gonna look into seeing if monochromatic is a browser setting solution but I already know I don't want to see any other site in it because ive already been there, tried all that, and done all that a thousand times in 35 years of computing. Especially in 2026.
I don't have such issues on any major sites (my gotos being blabbermouth, apnews, consequence, NME and guitarworld, and my definite favorite: search bar surprise).
