Fix Tackling

After the passing improvements, can you please fix tackling? I'm tired of seeing these plays every other down: https://mfn13.myfootballnow.com/gamecenter/view/2185#403898

What's wrong with that play?

Are you suggesting a RB should never break tackles?

Personally, I do NOT want to see JDB get rid of broken tackles. I think it adds to the realism of the game.

I don't mind the occasional broken tackle. What I mind is at least three broken tackles on every play. I also mind the fact that I have never seen a LB record 100 tackles in a season while it's easy to average 8-9 YPC running the same few running plays over and over.

Also realized that I grabbed the wrong play above. There is only one true missed tackle in that one. There was one from that game where something like 7 separate players attempted to tackle a player.

I like the Earl Campbell / Bo Jackson type plays every once in a while.

I don't see them very often in this game.

SD MFN-7

Approximate Tackles - 220
Approximate Missed tackles - 50

Is the ratio too high? Too low? (This also doesn't take into account where a missed tackled slowed up a runner who was then tackled shortly thereafter.)

Maybe the key is loading up on guys who can tackle. Or putting them in a position, i.e., the proper defense, to make a tackle. Or resting players enough. Lot of variables to consider.

I don't see the drag three defender plays very often, but I see the shrug off a lot.

I think it has a lot to do with how SP and Break Tackle work together. A fast RB with a decent break tackle will bounce much bigger defenders with good tackling skills. I think most of my yards after contact in 19 last season came in this manner. Where multiple defenders would try to tackle my running back at full speed and just bounce off.

In general, tackling balance needs to be addressed regardless of break tackle. I rarely have a LB in my top four tacklers on a team.

The other thing I've considered is that a lot of times a LB or Defensive linemen may be coming off of a block which would most likely hurt their chances of making a tackle.

You can't really look at the missed tackles stats because that includes "assists". That's a separate issue.

Me neither, but that's because the offenses I'm playing against throw a lot more passes than they have rushing attempts. If my opponent only has 15 rushing attempts, I expect most tackles to be made by my secondary.

Yes. The "missed tackles" stat is not accurate. You can't use those numbers for anything. Just like the "targets" and "thrown at" stats. They aren't correct and therefore are meaningless.
